1. RAF SIMONS REDUX
As the world found itself spellbound by the anti-fashion phenomenon who is Raf Simons, none could deny the book that explains his work best: Raf Simons Redux. Delving into his work from the mid 1990s to the early 2000s, Redux bestows upon the reader the fundamental knowledge necessary to understand the philosophy and aesthetic of Raf Simons; Look no further than photos from all previous runway shows, editorials, words from friends of Raf, and more. Until recently the only way to obtain this book was by purchasing it online ($400 USD or more) or by downloading the scanned version; the scanned versions at the time provided the knowledge but weren’t high quality. ARCHIVE.pdf has now released what can be considered as the most high-definition scan of Redux, available for the world’s viewing pleasure.
2. NUMBER (N)INE: BOOK WHITE
‘Book White’ was considered as one of the most mysterious books in the archival community; There weren’t many photos of the pages online, so unless you had $200 USD (or more) for buying this book, you would never know the contents that laid inside. This archival book is now available online for the world to see, with nearly 900 pages flawlessly scanned with the upmost quality. From the melancholy aesthetic to the superb photography and contemplative lyrics, Book White bestows onto the reader the true colors of Number (N)ine and its founder Takahiro Miyashita. And although it is a completely different experience to read it in person, the scanned version will forever be within arm’s reach, allowing people from around the world to finally understand the essence of Number (N)ine.
3. UNDERCOVER: TGRAPHICS
Like Redux and Book White, Undercover’s TGRAPHICS book is considered as quite rare, and if it surfaces online it usually comes with a hefty price. Documenting the works from 1990 to 2014, TGRAPHICS provides practically all graphics incorporated onto Undercover’s tee shirts and other garments. Furthermore, this archival scan could not have been made possible without the help of fellow Undercover enthusiast Brennan, who reached out to ARCHIVE.pdf and provided the physical copy in order for this scan to come to life. An essential for any Undercover enthusiast and aspiring graphic designer.
4. UNDERCOVER: UNDERMAN PHOTO BOOK
Considered as one of Undercover’s most creative works yet, the Spring/Summer 2011 collection ‘Underman’ revolved around the adventures of anti-hero Underman. Despite the cult status this collection has achieved amoung the Undercover community, the story of Underman remained shrouded in mystery… until now. Rarely seen for sale, the Underman Photo Book presents the adventures of Underman, from his origin story to the villains that he faces and the world that he inhabits.
5. NOWHERE: 2 YEAR ANNIVERSARY BOOK
When looking back on the history of anti-fashion and streetwear, none could deny of the impact of Tokyo-based store NOWHERE. Founded by Jun Takahashi of Undercover and NIGO of A Bathing Ape, NOWHERE became the epicenter of Tokyo’s street fashion scene and a critical player in the now historical Urahara Movement of the 1990s. During their yearly anniversaries NOWHERE would release a limited product, including the 2 Year Anniversary Book. The contents of this scan include the various works accomplished by the community of NOWHERE, the designs and aesthetic of that time, and most importantly the energy that shaped streetwear as we now know it today.
