#ICONIC Number Nine, Mickey & The Outsiders

One of the most famous garments from the Japanese brand is the collaboration with Disney in 2000 for its “Extra Heavy” collection which includes graphic prints of the famous Mickey in concert poses inspired by Eddie Vedder, leader of the band “Pearl Jam.

What is curious about it is that Takahiro mentioned in one of the few interviews he has done that two of his favorite movies and the ones that have inspired him the most are Rumble Fish (1983) and The Outsiders (1983). In the latter, one of the main characters, Two-Bit, comes out with differentet Mickey t shirt up to three times. Coincidence? Don’t think so, im pretty confidence that it has been a really strong part of the inspiration for creating these designs.

In 2006, for this collection’s anniversary, figures commemorating these graphics were launched, and due to their large size, just a few of them reached their destination unbroken. In the last photo, we can see Ian Connor’s dog posing with these statues. Ain’t it cute? In 2017 there was a reissue of these garments.
