#STYLEICONS BJÖRK and Fashion Designers

Björk asked Alexander McQueen for the production of the ‘Homogenic’ album cover and also named him creative director of this album, after she saw the photography work done with Devon Aoki by McQueen and Nick Knight for Visionaire magazine in 1997.

Thanks to their mutual interest in technology, nature and drama, they forged a strong bond and continued working together. McQueen directed videos such as “Alarm Call” and “Who is It”, for which he designed a dress covered in small silver bells. He also designed the dresses for her tours. Björk sang during the Alexander McQueen runway in the first edition of the international charity fundraiser event “Fashion Rocks” and during McQueen’s late memorial too.

Björk has worked with numerous designers throughout her career, Walter Van Beirendonck for example, who designed the red boots featured in the Hyperballad video. She also appeared in Jean Paul Gaultier’s runway in 1994. Jeremy Scott and Iris van Herpen also designed various dresses for her tours and appearances, amongst many others.

Björk profoundly admires Rei Kawakubo’s work, so she’s been spotted wearing Comme Des Garçons several times,as in Juergen Teller’s photographs for Self Service magazine in 2001.
